Asante sana

That's great news the drought has broken and the park is back to being green. When we went, I had more of a tan from the mud and dust than I ever did from the sun! There were only a few places with green. I'll try to look out a photo and you will see the difference.
I am glad Born Free are doing something to help the locals protect their stock. You cant blame them protecting their livelihood. More projects need to involve the locals so they understand and see the benefits of protecting the wildlife.
I saw a program here about how they were trying to change the attitudes of young men who see killing a lion as part of becoming a warrior. It was very interesting and a looked a great project.
I would love to read your article.
Gareth
Hi,
I visited Amboseli in 2007. They had a serious drought on then, how are the animals now? Has the drought broken?
You certainly see lots of Elephants! I counted 120 from my lodge balcony!
We also saw Cheetahs several times close up.
We went up in a balloon to see kilimanjaro. The guy that owned the balloon had lived in Cheltenham, England, which is close to where we live. I understand although young, he died a couple of years ago. Such a shame as he seemed a very nice man and appeared to be involving the locals in the enterprise.

Howard Kennedy said… Hi Mary, thanks for accepting my friend request. The camping picture on my profile was taken at Oloololo in Masai Mara. I am looking forward to coming back to Kenya this year and more camping. It is the best way to be with nature I think.
Kind regards
Howard
Keith Renouf said… Hi Mary,
Great to here from you, some of my best VT comes from Botswana, absolutely packed with Big Game I have spent many months in several camps. I have to say Governors is my favorite spot I have made good friends. I always go slightly out of season to miss the crowds, my driver spotter Mandella allways manages to find fantastic sights. If you have any suggestions on new venues I am allways ready to research and explore.
Best regards
Keith.

Hello Mary
Welcome, I've never visited Kenya although I have a number of friends born there.
I visit Botswana & Zimbabwe as often as I can, prefering to hire a 4x4 & tent to go it alone.
Best Regards
Roger
