Gannets in Scotland ...

I was up in Scotland for 4 days to monitor the 2 nests that I have licences for, as well as some other targets that friends had made me aware of.

Sadly there were no nest sightings on this trip and I couldn't find some of the other species.

I did manage to get to see the gannets at the UK's only inland…

New life at Wollaton

I'm pleased to report that I've seen 2 heron chicks at one of the nests there today and 4 coot chicks on the nest I've been watching over the last 2 months.

Hoping to get some closer shots tomorrow - x2 convertor needed methinks.

Worried about Kingfishers?

Iam.

There are many spots nearby where people have seen Kingfishers regularly over the years but they've not been seen yet this year in those places, either because the harsh winter has eroded their habitat or some other reason.

The only place that I've seen a Kingfisher so far is the Attenborough Centre in Notts. There's a good hide setup there with some hunting perches. I've setup my hide over a stretch of secluded river in Lincs and haven't seen a…

The wonder of spring...

How can a season have such an effect on me?

It's the energy and vibrance that the other creatures bring to it, together with all the flora, fauna and all manner of other beings/entities.

I've been photographing wildlife in Wollaton Park for a couple of hours a day over a period of 4 days and it's been amazing.
