Hi Sheryl,
Thanks for the information.
I recognise that Eagle Owl in your photo, was that at the Barn Owl Centre?
I like Vince a lot, he always says "I am not very good at this" and the proceeds to give lots of information very well!

Not sure - the crow has adopted us it would seem. S/he is seen walking around the various bird feeders in the morning and in the early evening. It seems ok healthwise - just out for any food I guess. Its nice having her/him aound.

Its not a fledgling - way too big - in fact its more or less full grown. Saw it again tonight - doing the same stuff but this time in our conifer tree at the front of the house. Mike thinks its wings are injured but I think it is trying to coax another crow (who seems to be around) into mating with it. You never know Mike and I may get to witness the whole story from our bedroom and landing windows - that would be nice. :D

Yes & unfortunatly it is very common, in fact I'd say the majority of crows that end up here are suffering from it. It can affect the bones which is awful & you can get some birds with terrible deformities.
Luckily if it just affects the feathers it just a case of giving them a good diet & waiting for them to moult & then they're good to go!

It certainly does! I'm sure we'll find time! The 'baby crow' turned out to be a year old crow with lots of white feathers. He's unable to fly as his feathers are so raggy but he should have a new set by september when he will be released with the others which have white feathers. Called him 'baby' lol! xx
