I dont mean to moan, but I think when you add pictures to TW one should add a heading as well. I enjoy commenting on peoples photos as best I can but hate it when I see a bird of prey in flight and…Continue

Well that week was one of the fastest ever. Following on from Previous blog post.
During the next couple of days Pete Walkden, Ian Cook, Neil Grubb and Kate Macrae, managed to get superb photos of otters and orcas and more and more shots of birds. Our…

Some of you know that four people from Talkwildlife.com have come up to stay with me here in Shetland. Its been amazing having spoken on Talkwildlife for the last year or so I would say and to finally meet them. We have had the most incredible two days with oodles and oodles of bird sightings resulting in them getting fab shots and filming material.
If you follow the blog posts of Kate Macrae you will see the bird and mammal sighting we have seen so far and Kate even managed to get…

I have to say what a genius idea to put an underwater cam in the Frog Pond in Kates Garden. Pure magic. I have this afternoon been exposed to an underwater world. I loved seeing what the frogs were doing underwater and to see it was kind of freeky but in an interesting way. YAY to Wildlife Whisperers and their cams. Look forward to seeing the next genius idea.
Best

I have been in bed for a week sick now, and today logged onto WW and sat and watched the cameras set up at WW HQ.
However still to see anything, however, I can hear them so the birds are not far away. aaaaah, Jason has little tits in his garden. Lovely. Anyhow, from my bed I can see loads of Ravens flying about, spectacular, also very big rough seas from the easterly gales currently giving Shetland a good battering.
You gotta love this place. Thanks for the cameras Jason,…

Was great to catch up at lunchtime! :-))) You've got a heck of a feeding station now! Have a super week. X
Thanks, P! WOW!!! Love your Page!!! :-)))
Hi Paula,
Many thanks for your comments on all my photos. I've only just joined the TW site so am uploading photos that go back a couple of years. Yes feel free to tweet the coot photo.
The puffin was right on the cliff edge with myself and half a boat load of photographers lying flat in the grass peering at it and many of its friends. The boat trip out to the Treshnish Isle is certainly worth it if you get chance to spend some time on Mull. This is the first year in seven years I have not gone to Mull for a 2 week holiday. The list of birds and animals I've seen without really going looking for them is amazing. Sea Eagles, Otters and deer are my favorites.
I have noted your discussion re cameras etc from last September. I bought my latest camera 2 yrs ago. As I like also like hillwalking and neither am I a knowledgeable photo person (all self taught or books) I had to balance cost, weight and simplicity to use. After reading reviews I ended up with a Pentax X70 bridge camera. As it is a 'bridge' camera and not a full SLR (can't buy separate lenses for it) I sometimes feel the poor relation when people appear with SLR's and big heavy lenses. However it does have a 24X optic zoom which equates roughly to a 300 m lense and gives a good enough picture quality result so it does me OK.
I eny your Shetland location.
Malcolm
