Not sure if anyone else has noticed this or if it's just in the fenland area I live, but up until September even after the harvest I was seeing Hares everyday including the wheat field behind my…Continue

Reversing rings

Having spent time this week watching a lot of gragon flies I'm tempted to try some macro photography and rather than go to the expense of a macro lens I thought I would try reversing rings to begin…Continue

Long lens bracket Manfrotto 393
1 Reply

Not sure if this helps anyone, but one of my reason for going to Bird Fair was to look at long lens brackets for my tripod (Manfrotto). I've been looking for quite a while on these and there seem to…Continue

Hi Charles, thanks for the reply. I've since found out that here in the Fens in February they hold two hare shoots and leave what they think is a reasonable amount. I've now found a great place nearby where hares seem to be in good numbers.

Well although we are distance apart from each other so this could be deemed coincidence, I've also noticed an absence. i live on Wirral and in one cemetery it was easy to see a dozen or more and film them from the car easily. They would lie up…

Sigma 120-300 f2.8 EX APO DG - Why buy one?

My 300mm f4 ED IF Nikon lens needed upgrading and whilst I would have preferred the Nikon 200-400 f4 VRII the price tag of £5000 wasn't realistic. So after much deliberation and looking at reviews the Sigma won the day. But how good is it?

First impressions

Hi Mark. Enjoy Fowlmere, must get over myself sometime. Yes Lee Valley is large, I cycle round it and do 10 miles + to see most of it.

A place you might find interesting if you come down this way again is The Lee Valley Park it is to the north of Waltham Abbey, leevalleypark.org.uk.

Hi Mark.

I have not been to RSPB at Fowlmere for some while, but yes it is a good reserve, I know it well, in my farming days used to work at the back of it on what was Fowlmere airfield.

I am a bit biased but can recommend Mull - Golden and white tailed eagles, otters, deer, and dramatic scenery. Love your photos btw.
