We have now had snow for a week, with more last night, but thawing again now, plenty of birds have been in feeding, so kept busy putting out food and changing water. Badgers and Muntjacs have still visited each night at sometime, thanks to…

Blue Tit Nest Box 2011

This was the 4th year I have had a nest box with a camera inside, and was hoping for a better year than 1st 3 years where I had 4 - 1 - 0 fledge.

It looked much better from the start with both parents very active untill the last one had fledged.

10 eggs were layed, all 10 hatched but 2 were 30 hrs behind 1st 8, those 2 died within 3 days.

The 8…

Thanks John for your comment.  You're right, I have spent a lot of time with the deer taking lots of photos.  I just keep going back to Richmond Park.  No doubt, 'the rut' is one of my favourite wildlife events of the year.  My wife does the honours and drives me there, she plays the role of the 'photographer's assistant.'  Luckily she's an early riser, I'm not so.  But the red deer rut gets me out of bed at 4am, no trouble!

Thanks John! I had a lovely day thank you. My badger is still coming. He came last night. I've got quite a lot of footage now so I am trying to make some films with commentary. One night he visited and I noticed he was holding a back leg up. Luckily a few minutes later he was walking on it. I thought I was going to have to chase him around the garden and catch him! (Not that he would have taken too kindly to that!) How's you badgers? It's great watching them isn't it?

I really enjoyed your blog on your Blue tit nest this year. As you know I was lucky enough to have one this year but all the chicks died. Your blog has been invaluable to me and also reassured me that they can be successful and it's wonderful to see yours grow and fledge. No male bird was involved at all in my nest which ultimately lead to the failure of it but hopefully next year will be a better year. Thanks for sharing your videos and visit counts (which are phenomenal!) :)
