Hi Dave, Something else would be to get something like this http://www.maplin.co.uk/xvision-10-metre-infra-red-ledlamp-535933 And run it off a 12volt caravan battery. Gareth

Hi Dave, You can position the flash extenders away from the trailcam.  I understand it comes with a cable & if that is not long enough, I suspect its fairly easy to extend that cable. See here for a…

Hi Catherine, I have it on Blu-ray. I think its alright, I think Big Cat Diary spoilt us really. I am not sure what I was expecting really but I am pretty sure some of the material is from the Big Cat Live programs. I am sure it will look great…

Martin Bailey replied to Gareth Jones's discussion 'Grey Squirrels and Alien Species (of this planet........)' in the group Garden Wildlife Watching
Hi Keith, There are only two ways to control them: shooting or trapping. For effective control I would recommend cage-trapping. This is how grey squirrels were removed from Anglesey, and it is very effective. You just need to be prepared to despatch…

Hi Martin, The squirrels are back but very few so far, I' not sure how I can control them unless I call in a local pest controller. One thing I did notice is for the squirrel to get from one wood  to another they have to cross open land.…

Hi Keith, Just found your discussion with Gareth. There are other reasons to control grey squirrels, apart from their effect on red squirrels. Because of their high density, grey squirrels compete for food with many of our native species, as well as…

Hi Neil, Good Luck! Take some time positioning it and one thing i do is stick my iphone in front of the lens and take a photo. (being careful to try to get the camera at same angle etc as the trail cam) It gives you an idea of what it will…

Hi Neil, Which one? I have both a 720P and a 1080P Bushnell. Proper video is good, its nice to see more than a picture sometimes. I dont think you will be disappointed with the Bushnell. Gareh

Hi Neil, If I want to make sure I capture something I use the Reconyx.  It has a strange method for detecting movement and so you need to be careful and plan for that but its fast trigger time, long battery life, reliability and consistent…

Hello Gareth

Thank you for your contact.

At the moment the Flash Extenders are on back order along with the NX50 & as yet I have not been able to try one although the reports from America are very positive.

I will be in touch with Uway later today for an update.

Best Wishes

Roger

Hi Gareth, thanks for your comment on my Osprey pic. You asked what size lens I have, it is a Sigma 50-500mm zoom lens, I find it quite a good lens, but I tend to use it at about 450 rather than at 500 to improve sharpness. You have some beautiful shots yourself, well done!

Put the Stealth Cam out again but this time on photo mode. Let's see if it photo's as well as it videos. End plan is to put in on a near by stream/lake where otters have been spotted before. Need to work out how long I can leave it before the battery goes flat.

Ooops I thought I'd replied to your message about the Barn Owl Centre but it seems I hadn't, sorry.

Yep that's the place. Vince has such an amazing raport withg the birds, I've never seen anything like it. It s like a light goes on inside them as soon as he goes near one of them. he's a complete natural with birds of prey.

Must head on over there again soon. :)

Hi Gareth, its a Bushnall Nigh Vision Monocular, I bought second hand on eBay a few years ago. It doesn't have the model number on it, I'll have to see if I can find the manual. Must have it somewhere.

Andy took the footage through the bedroom window I think, so that would be from one floor up and the Fox would have been about 10 yards from the house I think. I'll give you a shout when I find that manual. I have to say it's pretty good but to be honest we don't use it that often.

Regards,
Sheryl
