Wood Mouse

I better come clean this one is semi-captive (for five minutes anyway). I have these coming into my garage all winter and eating everything they shouldn't. I didn't want to kill them so bought some humane traps. basically it works like this. I put food in the traps, they come in and eat it then sit with there feet up until morning. I release them into an old fish tank, take a few pictures, then release them at the bottom of the garden. The next evening the whole process starts again, with me catching the same mice. Think of it as a mouse premier inn!!

That'll be why he has that "Not you again!" expression lol.  Lovely shot.

Lovely image, some small compensation for them eating things they shouldn't :-)

Thanks everyone. I think the mice, and voles on occasion, have really welcomed the free food this winter. Hotel is shut now until the autumn!!

We had a bank vole in our kitchen and unbeknown to us it was munching through a large home-made fat-ball. When we saw it the first time it waddled slowly across the floor - I'm sure it was obese! Anyway, my husband found the entrance at the back of the washing machine and blocked it up with steel mesh and filler and we haven't seen it in the kitchen since.

I can well beleive it Abigail. I have tried everything to keep them out of my garage, expanding foam, the lot but to no avail. They seem to particulalrly like the cork handles on fishing roads and I'm on my third landing net! One also started eating the inside out of one of my cycling shoes!!!!

I had my car in the garage over winter and when I came take it out I noticed a mouse had chewed various foam and plastic bits under the bonnet including some cable insulation. We now have a sonic device plugged in and hope that it works!
