I have been a little busy this last week being mummy to a lamb! Anyway, been over to one of my favourite places today (Talmine) and was pleased to see an adult Great Northern Diver, a pair of Red-throated Divers and a (I think) first summer Black-throated Diver. I have noticed that I am relying more and more on my 500mm lens for identification - it seems to be more reliable than my judgement!

Wonderful Abigail, I don't think the pictures are that bad, not bad at all considering the distances involved! Nice one!

They are magnificent birds. When we were in Morvern in May, a juvenile landed on the shore at the end of the garden. I was so excited I didn't even think about the camera! They are not that difficult to see these days here on the west coast - but always amazing

Thanks Dan. Shame I didn't get the camera sooner - the bird was flying quite low over our house and with binoculars I could see every feather.

Thanks Abigail-the pictures still convey the sheer size of these birds-I'm soooo jealous!

Yes, it certainly is! We call it 'Paradise'. The photo below is of Loch Cormaic which is up a track from our house.
