While trying to photograph birds at my local park, Grey Squirrel's seemed intend on spoiling my attempts. So not to be beaten I made the most of it by trying to video them. The first thing I noticed, I thought I could hold a camera pretty still, but with the 300mm lens on plus a converter at times, I guess not :( So a tripod would be a must, I have also let it be known that I would like a LCDVF for my coming birthday.
I then tried to edit the clips on my PC, which I think would have been pretty easy if the pc did not crash several times, and it also could not play the clips in real time so editing the clips revovled around a lot of guess work. I removed the orignal sound track, as along with the bird song it also picked up, the fat out of breath bloke heavy breathing, while trying to keep the camera still. I found a bit of free music in a folder and added it instead. I burnt a DVD and the footage looked OK, quite pleased, just a bit of motion sickness due the movement of the camera , as it if looked like I was filming from aboat in rough waters at times. So all I need now is a tripod ,a computer thats up to the task. And I would not mind giving making a short film a go. The quality seems to have suffered loading up to you tube but still fair in HD
