Yesterday, I saw this bird on my 6-port ring-pull Feeder. I am pretty certain it's a female Reed Bunting. Now I have mastered the art of dodgy digiscoping (Primitive Level - putting a digital camera up to the eyepiece, fiddling with it until the light shines through, crossing fingers and hoping for the best), here's a montage of the better shots I got of it, and an iffy one showing the size comparison with a House Sparrow:

Hi Katherine, Is the female reed bunting a first for your garden ? Can you tell me how you are getting on with the ring pull feeders, are they easier to keep clean?

Ring-pull feeders are very, very easy to dismantle, wash and re-construct. Indeed, as simple as a Blue Peter make!

I have a Ring-pull 6-port, a Ring-pull 4-port and a Ring-pull 4-port Nyger seed feeder.

Hit a rich seam with the garden at the moment. A Pied Wagtail visited the day after the female Reed Bunting, and yesterday, a pair of Siskins had a banquet on the sunflower hearts!
