As members of AWFN we all come here for many different things and for many different reasons and whilst a great many of us are here to learn, many are also here just to share their endeavours. With such a variation in hopes and wants it is possible that sometimes we don't get quite what we hope or want.

So this thread is here to try and help do a bit of sorting of some of those possible wants/needs by allowing you to give permission for the rest of the members to critique your work in your galleries; its no guarantee that you will get critique nor is it a guarantee of quality or content. It is simply an organised way for you to say that you would welcome people to give their thoughts and (hopefully) some advice on how you can improve your works. To say that you would not mind having an image in your galleries critically viewed.

I would also encourage you that if you do hope for critical views to make full use of the comments section when you upload an image - use it to take a moment to maybe say a little about it or list the setup you used to capture it. It might also be advisable that (if you take part in this scheme) you also note if a shot really is just for fun/showing and you know it has (possibly) many faults; just so as you don't get people being critical of just your fun works or record shots etc...

I will also remind people that we have photography and film sections in the forum and you can also use those to post images with the intent of getting feedback and such is a great way to help get input in a direct way on one (or more) of your works. It is also an option for those who might not want their entire gallery uploads open to possible critique, but who still want to get input into select works.

Further for those who might wish to just share and not have any comments on your work you are fully free to do so and if you go to the site settings menu and then to privacy you can turn off comments for your uploads.

So cast your view :)

NOTE: this thread is dealing with your photographic uploads to the site and not your film/video - there is a separate thread in the film making section

I post photos specifically to share, my attitude is about managing to capture a moment without concentrating on the bells and whistles of photography.  My pics will not win awards, and to me that doesn't matter, it is sharing an experience with others.  Everyone's pics are special to the person posting them, I won't be seen here being critical, I'd rather just not say anything.

I haven't uploaded that many at present, most of my pics are on another pc, it is getting them from A-B, again nothing to spectacular but be great to share!

I take photographs because I enjoy it, and post what I think are my better ones, or those that have an interest to them onto Talkwildlife. If anyone wishes to comment on them I am only to willing for them to do so. I intend to enter competitions but my first thought is to enjoy and share them.

Thank you for responding to my post Alexander.

I have copied some of the details of the camera settings that were used with the rat photograph rather than writing them all out individually.

Is this of any help or would you like anymore details?

Many Thanks

Cathy.

Thanks for the info Catherine - I'm adding my reply to the photo comments and if we keep the photo talk about that photo there it should save some confusion here :)

Also don't be afraid to drop into chat as well

BAH! I ran out of time to edit my comments while looking at the lense.

The lense that I used with my rat photographs was: (Nikon) AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR
70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED

I think this is a great initiative, We All learn continually from what we see around us and that includes viewing what others have done and how we can improve our own work !

Don`t ever be afraid to put your work out there, we all start at the beginning and it`s a great feeling to have your work Critiqued by others who have a little, or a lot, more experience, and it can only HELP you along the way. It is better to have your work looked at by others and they will be critical in a positive way, This will Help all who view and we can all take note of opinions and constructive crit, it`s not meant to destroy your confidence its to assist in making you a better Photographer and improve your work.

So, Get out there and start getting your work onto to the forum and upload to Photo`s and you Will see there are people who will do their best to help...
