Winter weekend family activities

Venue: London Wetland Centre
Enjoy a wintery weekend at the London Wetland Centre!

Create a heron mobile, see which underwater minibeasts are still lurking in the depths of our ponds, and learn some fascinating facts about our feathered friends, the birds of the wetlands! If the weather's bad, don't worry - most of these activities can be held indoors or under cover.

Unless specified, all of these activities are free with admission to the Centre. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Family weekend activities
Saturday 6 November - Sunday 5 December 2010
10.30 - 11.30 Winter crafts
Come and make a heron mobile and find out what animals they like to eat. Colour and create fantastical bird masks to take home. Make animal badges, keyrings and fridge magnets. Meet in the Tower (2nd floor). £1 to make a badge / keyring.

12.00 - 12.30 Great pond safari
Come pond dipping to discover the minibeasts braving the cold and still lurking in the depths of our ponds. Meet in the Pond Zone.

13.30 - 14.00 Winter walk
Join us for a walk to discover how the birds and other animals at the wetlands survive the winter. Meet under the canopy in the Pond Zone. In the case of bad weather, activities will take place under the canopy.

14.30 - 15.00 Wetland bird story
Take part in an interactive story about our feathered friends, listen to bird calls and learn about their unusual behaviours. Meet in the Yurt. (We may even have a fire going if it is very cold.)

15.30 - 16.30 Arts and crafts
